City Cop Charged With Witness Tampering Pleads Not Guilty

After nearly 11 months of court appearances following being criminally charged with offences relating to witness tampering, a Medicine Hat police constable is pleading not guilty to the allegations.

MHPS Const. Noel Darr, 57, entered the plea to attempting to obstruct justice on Tuesday at Medicine Hat Court of Justice.

Darr was arrested and charged on July 8, 2025 for offences which occurred between February 2022 and November 2023.

Those offences include attempting to dissuade witnesses in a judicial proceedings through bribes, threats or other corrupt means.

Darr elected a judge-alone trial which will be heard by a King’s Bench justice.

No preliminary hearing will be held.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Medicine Hat’s Court of King’s Bench for trial fixation on July 15.

The local Crown’s office has declared a conflict with the file which will be handled by an out-of-circuit prosecutor.

Darr is facing a maximum of a 10-year jail sentence if found guilty at trial.
