Take a Walk in the Park Another Big Success
The ladies who brought you Coats on Finlay started another project last year, Take a Walk in The Park.
Background
Coats on Finlay started years ago - people drop off winter coats and other winter gear on Finlay Bridge and anybody can take what they wish. The items are left overnight so people can shop overnight without anybody watching.
It started in 2018 with Kym Porter, Helen Snortland and Shannon English. They had 200 coats donated that year. By 2021, over 1000 coats were donated as well as hats, mitts, boots, scarves…
In 2024, a donation from the other side of the country allowed the ladies to purchase at least 40 pairs of wool socks. Blankets were also available.
A Downtown business owner told the ladies
“Coats on Finlay is great! You should do the same thing with shoes.”
So, they did.
Take a Walk in the Park debuted last year and was a roaring success.
Sandals and Sneakers and Heels, Oh My!
A wide variety of footwear was available for all ages yesterday, from teeny tiny little sandals to sky high stilettos to great big boots.
