The Owl reached out to the city for comment on the recent comments by local Black Hat Gang member Ian Parkinson - we received this response.
The recent comments attributed to Mr. Parkinson have generated considerable public attention and concern. The City appoints community members to advisory boards and working groups not only as subject matter contributors, but also as representatives of values that support respectful, inclusive, and constructive public service. Public statements that are perceived as discriminatory, derogatory, or inconsistent with these values can significantly erode public confidence in the committees on which members serve. To preserve the integrity, credibility, and public confidence essential to the work of municipal governance, the City has accepted Mr. Parkinson’s resignation from both the Heritage Resources Working Group and the Municipal Planning Commission.
The comments in question were spoken at an APP gathering
