Echo Dale Swim Lake Closed Until Further Notice
The swim lake at Echo Dale Regional Park will remain closed for now. The park itself reopens on Friday, June 19 at 7 a.m., but the swim lake will be drained and stay closed until further notice.
UPDATED - City Re-opens Aquatic Facilities, Echo Dale Swim Lake to be drained
All City aquatic facilities, with the exception of Echo Dale Regional Park, have now resumed operations. City operated pools had been temporarily closed to allow staff to connect with supports and resources following the tragic incident at Echo Dale Regional Park.
Updated - Echo Dale Park Remains Closed Following Death of Child
The Medicine Hat Police Service can confirm the child involved in the incident at Echo Dale Regional Park on June 15, 2026, has since died. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation; however, foul play is not suspected. Out of respect for the privacy of the child and the family, no further details will be released.
