Earlier this week, The Owl emailed all councillors who went to the Calgary Stampede. Not one responded. Whether that was deliberate or not, maybe they just did not have time to read all their emails … So we took the opportunity of attending the committee meeting in person to ask questions.

The Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees freedom of the press and freedom of expression. That includes the right to ask questions. Any questions. The Charter does not guarantee answers. Councillors can say "no comment." They can say "we'll get back to you." They can tell us to go fuck ourselves. That's fine - we can take it. It's all part of the game.

Lac Ste. Anne County calls special closed-door meeting. Notice went out Sunday afternoon for a meeting Monday afternoon. Less than six months after being hired on a five year contract as Lac Ste. Anne County's top administrator, Ann Mitchell is presumably the subject of a special closed-door council meeting scheduled for Monday.

Lenea Grace, executive director of the Lifesaving Society's BC and Yukon branch, puts it this way: "You'd never get into your car without doing up your seat belts, so please make sure that you're zipping and clipping your life jacket on when you set foot on a boat"
